Meat Cutlet

A Meat cutlet specifically refers to cooked meat stuffing that is fried with a covering.The meat itself is cooked with spices - onion, cardamom, cloves, cinnamon, coriander green chillies, lemon and salt.This is a familiar snack in Kerala.

Ingredients

  • Beef (without fat) - 3 lbs
  • Black pepper - ½ tsp
  • Turmeric powder - ¼ tsp
  • Salt - 1 tsp
  • Vinegar - 2 tsp
  • Onions - 3 nos
  • Green chillies - 4 nos
  • Ginger - 1 inch
  • Garlic - 4 cloves
  • Potato - 6 nos
  • Egg white - 4 nos
  • Bread crumbs - 1 cup
  • Oil - 2 cups

Preparation Steps

  • Cut the beef into inch pieces and wash well.
  • Add black pepper, salt, turmeric and vinegar. Chop it well in a food processor. Don’t grind it.
  • Boil the potatoes and peel it . Mash it with the beef .
  • Chop the garlic, ginger, chillies and the onions.
  • Put some oil in a saute pan and sauté the onions, garlic, ginger and chillies. Add the mashed mixture of beef and potatoes and cook for 7 minutes.
  • Add enough salt and mix well. Keep this aside.
  • Beat the egg white with a fork and keep it aside too.
  • Take the bread crumbs in a plate.
  • Take the mixture (size of a golf ball) into the palm and make an oval shape.
  • Dip it in the egg white and cover with bread crumbs and put it in the boiling oil and fry till it becomes golden brown.
