How to Straighten Hair at Home?

s5_thumb4

If the iron straightener is burning your hair and giving it a dull appearance, here are a few tips on straightening hair at home. Keep in mind that you need to be patient to get the right look!

  1. Buy papaya and bananas. Mash the fruits in a quantity that you think will be sufficient for your hair. Mix two teaspoons of honey in it and leave it on until it gets dry. Avoid putting water on your hair until it dries up completely. Wash it with cold water and towel dry your hair. Smoothen it up with a dryer and a comb to get a neat look. You will notice that your hair has significantly straightened out as papaya and banana creates a stretching effect on the area where it is applied. Honey is sticky and is therefore, used to hold the mixture in place. You sure would not want dollops of banana falling off your head! Another alternative is to apply eggs as they help in giving you a straighter hair texture.
  2. Deep condition your hair for a straightened look. Apply it twice in between shampooing and massage it gently especially at the ends of the hair strands. Dry your hair and straighten it according to your style.
  3. You will find hoards of straightening creams and brushes available in the market. Invest in a good brand as a cheap product may damage your hair. After applying the chosen cream lightly on your hair, brush your hair from the top to the bottom till the end of the hair strand to avoid clumps. It is better to ask someone to do it for you. After washing the hair, make sure you do not tie your hair. Leave it open for at least an hour or two.
  4. Coconut milk when frozen for 35—40 minutes forms a layer of cream on top that looks like a scum. Collect that in a bowl and mix one lemon’s juice in it. Fluff it until it becomes frothy and a bit creamy. Apply it on your hair and wrap it with a cotton cloth. Wash it off. If your hair is too curly, this treatment may be able to add ten percent straightening effect to your hair. Do not expect something drastic out of this! This treatment is not harmful, unlike the chemicals that are available in the market.

Furthermore, washing your hair in the afternoon instead of early morning helps. Hair gets to smoothen down a bit overnight and be less frizzy! Brush your hair when it completely dries up. Some women also wear a tight hat while sleeping to get the straight look the next morning.
